The Rev. Theodore T. Ogoshi Memorial Archives
We house a treasure of historical resources dating back to the beginning of The Rev. Takie Okumura’s ministry in Hawaii in the late 1800s. These resources have been invaluable for those researching the Japanese Christian movement among the early immigrants.
Our team of volunteers gather each Thursday morning to help with various light chores and end the morning by sitting down together for a home-cooked lunch. It’s a great time to enjoy each other’s company!

Next Steps Shelter
Makiki Christian Church is one of many organizations that participate in the opportunity to prepare and serve a special meal to our brothers and sisters at Kaka’ako’s Next Step Shelter where people live temporarily while getting their lives back in order. It is an honor and privilege for us to do so because we are able to put God’s love into action.

Operation Christmas Child
Our annual Christmas project calls our members to contribute a shoebox filled with necessities and goodies for the purpose of bringing Christmas joy to a child overseas whom otherwise would not receive a gift. These anonymous gifts come delivered with a message that Jesus Christ loves them. We are thankful to be an annual participant of this wonderful international ministry.
MCC Prison Ministry Video Conferencing
Makiki Christian Church is a video host site for families of Hawaii-based inmates incarcerated on the mainland to talk with their loved ones. Our goal is to make this limited time each month as meaningful and comfortable as possible by creating a welcoming environment and offering our hospitality through childcare and light refreshments.
